Memorial Day Feasting

We celebrated the beginning of summer with our annual Memorial Day cookout today.  BBQ smoked ribs & chicken, some boudin and sausage with pineapple, mama's famous BBQ baked beans, potato salad and the family favorite - green rice (a version of broccoli cheese rice).  We ate outside and the weather was beautiful, the sun was going down and we got to watch our purple martins making their evening dives for mosquitos.  Afterwards, we took a walk over to visit the chicken pen.  

Oh and did I mention the cherry pie?

Madison Goes To State!

The Georgia High School Association State Golf Tournament is not exactly where I thought Madison's first year playing golf would take her, but, WOW! She and three Dodge County High School teammates went to Chateau Élan and played well.  The team didn't end up winning, but played well and as for Madison, she placed 39th out of 49 of the best girls in the state of Georgia.  Not too shabby for your first year ever playing a sport!  Congratulations, Madison - we are proud of your accomplishments!
